Overall Purpose of the Job:
This person manages the Capex procurement team and is responsible for the delivery and performance of team to the business. The role has a change and process development element to instil best practise and continuous improvement through both leadership and execution. The manager will plan, direct or coordinate the activities of buyers and any related workers involved in purchasing materials, products, services or activities to limit costs and improve accuracy, customer service and safety.
Principal Accountabilities:

  • To pro-actively work with departments managers to understand the full requirement of product, service and delivery to ensure the most efficient execution of the procurement activity.
  • Day-to-day coordination of activities, task assignments, issues resolution, and overall direction for the Capex team and execution of the line management processes including staff development, EDP’s, etc. The person doing this role would also have the ability to execute procurement tasks for staff coverage as required.
  • To establish, harmonise and maintain appropriate formalised purchasing policies, compliance and procedures within the Capex team.
  • Establish strategic relationships with suppliers; managing delivery and performance expectations. Set expectations and drive behaviour within the procurement team to manage suppliers on daily basis.
  • To lead supplier negotiations on major spend, recommend supplier selection based on research and implement contracts designed to encourage continual improvement.
  • Drive performance of the Capex team to achieve department KPI’s including but not limited to on time delivery, savings, and internal lead times as well as to ensure that individuals staff targets are set and achieved.
  • To work in partnership with operations and PL and other support functions to promote SC across the organisation.
  • First point of contact and escalation for all issues related to the Capex procurement activities within the direct reporting line.
